Editorial standards
Every published calculator on Mr. Calco is a working tool with plain-language explanations, a worked example, methodology notes, culturally relevant facts, an FAQ, and references to authoritative sources — not auto-translated filler.
What every page includes
- A unique, functional calculator — not a text-only article
- Formula explanation in plain language plus the mathematical expression
- A worked example with realistic values and clear steps
- Methodology covering how the calculation works, edge cases, and what is not modeled
- Three to five substantive facts — not filler
- At least four FAQ items that match real search questions
- Two or more credible references (WHO, CDC, NIST, NWS, CFPB, ACOG, ISO, peer-reviewed papers, and regional equivalents)
- Links to three or more related calculators
- A legal disclaimer where health or finance applies
- A last-reviewed date and reviewer attribution
Localization, not translation
Each language file is written for that audience. Slugs, units, currency, number formats, facts, FAQs, and references are adapted to local search intent and institutions. We do not machine-translate English and publish. When English gains new methodology or sources first, native adaptations are scheduled separately — English prose is never auto-copied into other locales.
Anti–scaled-content checklist
Before a locale variant goes live, editors confirm:
- The calculator works in the browser
- Facts differ meaningfully from other locales
- FAQ questions match local search intent
- The worked example uses realistic local values
- Methodology matches the live formula in the calculator engine
- References are real, linked, and appropriate to the domain
- At least 300 words of unique prose (excluding FAQ); more for competitive head terms
- No duplicate FAQ copy across calculators on the same topic
Review calendar
- Finance and tax tools: reviewed annually (January)
- Health tools: reviewed every two years
- Math and everyday tools: reviewed every three years, or when the formula changes
- Weather indices: reviewed when NWS, MSC, or equivalent guidance changes
Country-specific pages
Country variants use /{lang}/{country}/{slug}/ and are published only when content reflects local rules (for example tax brackets or mortgage conventions). A country URL without local substance is not considered ready.
